Kiwanis Club of Dublin Empowers Local Youth with $4,500 in Scholarships

The Kiwanis Club of Dublin knows that the best way to better our communities is through education and removing barriers to accessing education by awarding the annual $1,500 Thorton-McBride scholarship to three exemplary high schoolers, totaling $4,500. The recipients were three exceptional Key Club members from Dublin Coffman, Dublin Jerome, and Dublin Scioto High Schools who were celebrated at the prestigious 2024 Community Champion Awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 17th, 2024.

The Kiwanis Club’s Scholarship Chair, John Mensing, and Club President, Ken Stalder, had the distinct honor of presenting the scholarships to these deserving young leaders. Each recipient showcased a deep commitment to the core values of Key Club, embodying qualities of leadership, character, caring, and inclusiveness.

These Key Clubbers didn’t just talk the talk; they walked the walk when it came to community service. From attending multiple Kiwanis Family service projects to taking on leadership positions within their clubs, their dedication to making a difference was evident in every project they undertook. Their efforts not only impacted the lives of those they served but also inspired positive change throughout the community.

By awarding these scholarships, the Kiwanis Club of Dublin isn’t just providing financial assistance; we’re investing in our future leaders. These scholarships will empower these students to pursue higher education and continue their journey of service and leadership. They carry with them the invaluable lessons learned through Key Club—lessons of humility, service, and compassion. With the support of Kiwanis, they are poised to make an even greater impact on their communities and beyond.
